Abstract


The objectives of this research were to study the problems and obstacles in business development of small-sized customs brokerage operators that are the members of the Customs Brokers and Transportation Association of Thailand (CTAT) and to develop adaptation methods for survival in the business operation of small-sized customs brokerage operators that are the CTAT’s members. The qualitative research was used as the methodology.  The research instruments used to collect data were in-depth interviews with key informants who were the representatives of small-sized customs brokerage operators and non-participant observation.analyze and verify by content analysis methodThe results of this research indicated that the sample’s problems and obstacles in business development were divided into 7 aspects including (1) infrastructure, transportation and trading facilities, (2) government policy, (3) rules and regulations, (4) human power development,  (5) service provider, (6) information technology system, and (7) management. The sample utilized the following methods for survival: internally organizational development, specialized service, subcontracting service and, business alliance.
