Abstract

The research aims to 1) study the factors affecting OTOP entrepreneurs’ logistics distribution in the three southern provinces of Thailand, 2) to analyze the effectiveness of the OTOP entrepreneurs’ logistics distribution in the mentioned provinces, and 3) to define channels of the distribution in the mentioned provinces.

The population was the entrepreneurs in a stimulus program called One Tambon One Product (OTOP).  They meet the standard set by a National OTOP Administrative Board and are rated 5-star in 2013.  Five entrepreneurs participating in the study included 1 from Narathiwat Province, 3 from Pattani Province, and 1 from Yala Province.

          It found that:

1.  the factors affecting OTOP entrepreneurs’ logistics distribution in the three southern provinces of Thailand were found high and rated 3.63 on average.  Quality was ranked the most important, followed by time and cost respectively.

2. the effectiveness of the OTOP entrepreneurs’ logistics distribution in the mentioned areas was found at the fair level.  The arrangement of distribution units and their functions was allocated and defined.  Deals were agreed and quality of goods was assured.

3. the OTOP entrepreneurs use the channel of the distribution belonging to OTOP provincial shops.  The channel also includes other means of transportation: postage, cars, buses, and trains.

It suggested that:

1.  the consolidation of the OTOP entrepreneurs and those doing souvenir business in the three southern provinces of Thailand should be set up so that cooperation among the them is strengthened.

2. there should be government units responsible for educating OTOP entrepreneurs and those doing souvenir business in the mentioned areas.  This is to provide them expert advice and knowledge on distribution of the OTOP product, and use of them in practice.

3. government units should be officially appointed responsible for educating OTOP entrepreneurs and those doing souvenir business in the mentioned areas.  The units are to regulate product quality and enforce production to meet the requirements set by the Food and Drug Administration.

4. budget allocation from the government should be set aside so as to establish learning centers serving as distribution centers for the OTOP entrepreneurs and those doing souvenir business in the mentioned provinces.

Suggestions for future research topics were as follows:

1. Distribution process for OTOP

2. The study on the channel of the distribution specifically in the three southern provinces

3.  The study on the collaboration of the OTOP entrepreneurs as part of the effort to certify product quality and standard
