Lignans from the leaves of Zanthoxylum limonella (Dennst.) Alston
Abstract
Zanthoxylum limonella (Dennst.) Alston is commonly used plant in temperate zones of Asia and North America for traditional medicine. This plant is widely distributed in the northern part of Thailand. The investigation of the dichloromethane extract of the leaves afforded three lignans: (+)-sesamin (1), (+)-pipertiol-g,g-dimethylallyl ether (2) and (+)-episesamin (3). Their structures were characterised by analyses of spectroscopic data.
