Abstract

The purposes of this study were (1) to examine causal effect of individual spirit at work (SAW) on job satisfaction, life satisfaction, in-role performance, organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), and turnover intention with the method of Structure Equation Modeling (SEM) (2) to investigate about job satisfaction and life satisfaction as mediator
variables between SAW and three employees’ effectiveness and (3) to compare the measurement invariance models between two groups of employees working for for-profit and nonprofit organizations. The sample was comprised of 418 employees who were from two types of organizations within Thailand: 224 (for-profit) and 194 (nonprofit). The result of
SEM analysis indicates that job satisfaction fully mediates the relationship between SAW and OCB, turnover intention, but not with in-role performance whereas life satisfaction fully mediates the relationship between SAW and in-role performance, turnover intention, but not with OCB. Additionally, there are different findings in multi-group invariance models. The implications of these findings are discussed.
