Abstract

Chrysanthemum is a popular flowering plant and it ranks 1 in 4 of the world next on down carnation and roses. Variety development for a new variety of chrysanthemum could be reached a customer satisfaction and the expansion of chrysanthemum using. The research objective is to evaluate growth and product quality of chrysanthemum new varieties in Loei province. Five new varieties of chrysanthemum, such as ศก1 18/3-11-6, ศก1 12/4-22-1, ศก1 12-4-27, ศก2 18-2-16 and ศก1 15-3-24 were grown in plastic house compared with a commercial variety, Rivalry (control). Growth and product quality base on diameter of flower, peduncle length, harvesting time and vase life were not significantly different compared with control. Whereas, significant difference was found in a value of perianth length which ศก1 12/4-22-1 showed the highest value more than ศก1 15-3-24 and control. The results indicated 5 new varieties of chrysanthemum tend to be used for a commercial variety which is a new choice for a farmer in Loei province.
