GUIDELINES FOR DEVELOPING THE POTENTIAL OF ACADEMIC PERSONNEL TO ENTER ACADEMIC POSITIONS, GRADUATE SCHOOL, SUAN SUNANDA RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY

Abstract


The study on Guidelines for Developing the Potential of Academic Personnel to Enter Academic Positions, Graduate School, Suan Sunanda Rajabhat University aimed to examine the awareness of the criteria and procedures for obtaining academic positions, and to propose guidelines for promoting and supporting the advancement of full-time lecturers at the Graduate School to academic positions. The population of this study comprised 52 academic staff members. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean  and standard deviation (S.D.). The results of the study showed that: The majority of the participants were female (61.53%), aged between 45 and 60 years, with all holding a doctoral degree and 63.46% serving in lecturer positions. The overall level of awareness and understanding regarding the criteria for academic position promotion was moderate ( = 2.80, S.D. = 0.56), with the highest mean score observed in the recognition of the importance of publishing in internationally indexed academic journals  = 3.60. In terms of the need for capacity development to achieve academic positions, the overall level was high  = 3.98. The most highly rated need was organizing practical workshops on academic and research writing for academic position applications  = 4.40, followed by establishing a mentoring system   = 4.25 and providing one-on-one consultations with experts  = 4.15. Based on the findings, the recommended development strategies include continuous workshops, mentoring systems, periodic evaluation and monitoring, English proficiency enhancement for international publication, research network building both domestically and internationally, and budget support for research and publication. These measures aim to effectively increase the likelihood of academic personnel at the graduate school successfully attaining higher academic positions.
